From Drunk to Disciple: A Story of True Transformation
At one of our recent crusade gatherings, we witnessed the incredible power of the Gospel to transform lives right before our eyes.
On Saturday, as the message of Jesus was being preached, a man arrived at the crusade very drunk. He was loud, disruptive, and nearly removed from the gathering. But instead of turning him away, our team gently encouraged him to stay and listen.
And he did.
As the Word of God went forth, something deeper than words began to stir in his heart. By the end of the message, that same man who stumbled in under the influence of alcohol was now on his knees, surrendering his life to Jesus.
But the story doesn’t end there.
He returned to church the very next day—sober. With humility and a hunger for change, he asked for a Bible and a discipleship book, saying, “I want to stop drinking.”
While we weren’t able to give him the materials that first Sunday, we were overjoyed to see him again the following week—still sober and visibly changed. This time, we were ready. He received his Bible and book, and now, he’s busy telling others to stop drinking and come to church!
What could cause such a radical shift?
Only Jesus.
This is what happens when someone encounters the true, living God. When we believe in Jesus, we are not just inspired—we are transformed.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17
