Team! Thank you for saying yes to God’s invitation to set captives free in Pakistan. This page is designed to equip you with everything you need before you go. From trip details to devotionals, fundraising resources, and more— we’re with you and for you as He prepares the way before us!

Our Letter to You

We are so excited you are joining us on our trip to Pakistan this January! We deeply believe that in the coming months, God will expand your view of His heart, His Kingdom, and His people!

God is inviting you to prepare the way of freedom for many in Pakistan. Today, millions remain in generational slavery—but He is sending you to bring them out! You will extend freedom not only physically, but spiritually, by proclaiming the message of Jesus Christ.

We were once slaves to sin, and Christ set us free from the bondage of slavery by purchasing our freedom with His blood. What we have freely received from Him, we now get to freely extend to others.

This is what God is inviting us to be a part of: Freedom. Salvation. Deliverance.

There are believers in Pakistan’s brick kilns, crying out to God for freedom. We get to join Him in answering these prayers, setting captives free to share the Gospel with those still in bondage without hope of eternity.

Our prayer is that God will prepare, ready, and equip you for the days ahead. On this page, you will learn about Matthew 10, the country of Pakistan, and the mission of setting captives free. You will be equipped with fundraising resources, encouraged by trip testimonials and devotionals, and prepared to go with travel details, packing lists, and more.

We pray that as you prepare, God will meet you with His heart. We believe that God has specific things planned for each one of you during our time in Pakistan. May He open the eyes of our hearts and fill us with compassion for His people.

We are so thankful to be on mission alongside you. Thank you for saying yes, and we are so excited for what’s to come!

And as you go, preach this message: “Heaven’s kingdom realm is accessible, close enough to touch… Freely you have received the power of the Kingdom, so freely release it to others.”

About Matthew 10

Thousands of people in our churches are trapped in generational slavery.

We are on a mission to set them free.

The message of the Gospel is that all of us were stuck in the miry clay.  We were helpless to save ourselves or pay our debt of sin. We needed a Savior to rescue us.  Matthew 10 partners with pastors to introduce each family to Jesus, and after they are established in our churches, we work to set them free physically.

We can change the trajectory of their lives and liberate them from the generational bondage of their slavery — and help establish the church in a Middle Eastern nation by demonstrating the beauty and power of the Gospel to set us free in every way.

Let’s do this.

Watch our short documentary below describing the problem.

ABOUT PAKISTAN

  • Pakistan is a predominantly Muslim country. While we will be partnering with local Christians during our trip, they make up only a small minority of the population. Throughout our time there, you will hear the call to prayer broadcast from mosques five times a day, inviting Muslims to worship. Our team will have the opportunity to be a light in a nation where only about one percent of people have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

It’s important to remember that Pakistan is a shame–honor culture, meaning the way we dress, speak, and interact with others carries deep significance. We’ll especially notice this when invited into people’s homes for a cup of chai. To us, it may seem like a simple gesture, but to them, it is an expression of great honor.

By showing respect, kindness, and joy in all we do, we not only honor the people we meet but also reflect the character of Christ in a nation where many have yet to hear His Name.

  • In March, Pakistan temperatures usually range from the mid-50s to the upper 80s. Mornings and evenings can get a bit chilly, so be sure to pack a sweatshirt and a jacket to stay warm.

  • During our trip, we want to show respect for the culture of Pakistan by dressing in a way that fits local customs. Girls will wear traditional Pakistani clothing each day, while boys will wear traditional clothing for church services, the Freedom Celebration, and other occasions when it feels culturally appropriate. Everyone will receive one outfit upon arrival, and there will be opportunities to shop for more if needed. Ellie will also bring a few extra outfits for the girls, just in case!

  • Lahore, Pakistan, is 11 hours ahead of Central Standard Time. So when it’s 8:00 a.m. CST, it’s 7:00 p.m. in Lahore.

  • The most common language in Pakistan is Urdu. Pastor Rehan, along with a few other members of the Pakistani Matthew 10 team, also speak English and will be serving as translators throughout the week.

PACKING LIST

“At one of the brick-kilns, I was talking to a sweet woman and her little son. We were watching him play on the ground and talking about Jesus. I asked her if she was excited to leave the brick kilns, to be free, and to start her new life. She said (through the translator), 'I am already free through Jesus.'

That immediately struck my heart - what a heart posture before the Lord. In Christ and in Him alone, we are truly free! It’s easier to feel “freer” when you are in America versus making bricks at a brick-kiln that you can’t leave in Pakistan, but the ultimate truth is that we are all slaves to sin, and unless we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are not free. This incredible woman understood that, though her physical state was slavery, she was eternally free. My heart burned for all the people around the world who are free physically, but not eternally. True freedom is only found in Jesus Christ alone!! And if the Son sets you free, you are free indeed!”

Fundraise for Freedom

God’s Heart for Fundraising

You’ve answered the call to go to Pakistan, but now there is one more step before you go: fundraising. For many of us, asking for support can be something that feels intimidating or uncomfortable. But here’s the reality: God owns it all. He is the one who called you on this trip, and He is the one who will provide. He would never bring you this far and then leave you to figure it out on your own!

God’s Invitation in Fundraising

Fundraising is more than asking people to meet a need; it’s an invitation. You are inviting others to join you in the mission God has placed before you. When someone gives, they aren’t just supporting your trip; they are sowing into the Kingdom, reaping an eternal reward, and becoming part of the story God is writing in Pakistan.

Before we dive into how to raise support for your trip and help set families free, let’s first turn to the heart of God and see what He says about money and giving. In Philippians 4:15-19, Paul shares about his own missionary journey, expressing both gratitude and confidence in the generosity of the Church.

“Even in Thessalonica, you sent me help for my needs once and again. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Biblical Foundation of Support Raising

First, we see that Paul asked for financial help during His missionary journey. This gives us confidence to ask for support because it is God’s design for the Church. Some people are called to go, and some are called to send. When we ask, we invite people to live out the call to send missionaries to the ends of the earth, where the Gospel has not yet been preached.

Investment in Eternities

Second, we see that Paul isn’t just seeking a gift for himself– he desires eternal reward for the givers. When we ask people to give, they are sowing into eternity, not just providing for their needs. Your invitation places an opportunity before them to make an eternal deposit, and the fruit of that generosity will be multiplied in Heaven as more people are set free and come to know Him. Some of the impact of this one week in Pakistan may not be fully seen until eternity.

That’s the invitation to your supporters: to invest in eternity and multiply the Kingdom of Heaven. As Scripture says, “Those who sow bountifully will also reap bountifully” (2 Corinthians 9:6).

Confidence in God’s Provision

Finally, Paul has deep confidence that God will take care of his every need and bless and provide for those who give. We do not approach raising support in our own ability, but in God’s faithfulness as Provider. He is the One who called us to go. He will call others to give. And ultimately, He will call people in Pakistan to Himself as they are set free.

How to Fundraise

To go on this trip, you need to raise $4,000 to cover the trip cost. We encourage you to ask and try to raise additional funds to set families free! Once your costs are covered, any additional money you raise will go directly to set families free.

Some of you may feel overwhelmed at the thought of raising this much support; nonetheless, more money to set families free. If that’s you, remember God owns it all and delights in providing for His children. There are already people God has chosen to be the providers for your trip, waiting to be asked!

Others of you may already have someone covering your trip. If that’s your story, don’t breeze over this section! First, recognize the provision of God and thank Him for His goodness in providing. Second, you still have the opportunity to invite people into this mission by raising additional support to set captives free.

Fundraising opportunity will be given through a platform called, CauseVox, and will be made available after application approval and steps for registration are provided.

Sam Langenbahn Testimonial

“As the trip to Pakistan was approaching, I found myself growing increasingly overwhelmed at the idea of raising four thousand dollars in less than two months. I did not know how I was going to find the time or formulate the words when I talked to the friends and family members I had identified as potential supporters. I found myself telling God, “I believe, but help my unbelief!” One prayer and one conversation at a time, I began to see the Lord work in the hearts of every person I called. Every single time I hung up after a support call, I felt nearer to the Lord and even more convinced that he was going to do far more abundantly than I had asked or imagined. In those next four weeks, I was able to raise sixteen thousand dollars, which covered my entire trip and set nearly 3 families free!!! My journey of learning how to raise support showed me that all money is God’s money, and there are unexpected, unassuming people around us who God is working in the hearts of to give towards His Kingdom Plans! My encouragement to you would be to dream big and ask boldly, confident that God will not only impress you but renew your awe in and for Him!”

Ellie Langenbahn Testimonial

“When I signed up for my trip to Pakistan, I was confident God had called me to go, but was still anxious about raising the $4,000. Holly Scurry Todd, a faithful member of the Matthew 10 team, encouraged me that God would provide and to go ask boldly in faith! As I began raising support, I was in awe as God moved people to give! I realized it wasn’t just my prayers being answered to go, but the prayers of many slaves in Pakistan longing for freedom. I started to see myself as an ambassador for their prayers and their freedom, texting family and friends, hosting a clothing drive, and advocating on social media. I ended up increasing my fundraising goal three times, and raised four times the amount I had originally asked for! He does abundantly, immeasurably more than we can ask, think, or imagine!”

DEVOTIONALS

As you spend the next few weeks preparing for our trip, it can be easy to focus on the logistics– packing lists, fundraising, and scheduling. But in the midst of it all, may we not miss the main thing: asking God to give us His heart.

You may be approaching this trip with excitement and great expectation, or maybe you have questions and fear of the unknown. Wherever you are, our prayer is that these devotionals would serve as an instrument to lead you into the secret place with God. Only He can transform your fear and empower you by His Spirit for what is to come.

In the pages ahead, you’ll find four devotionals to read each week leading up to the trip. Each is designed to lead you closer to the heart of God. They include a Scripture to meditate on, a short devotional thought, reflection questions, and prayer prompts to draw you into His Presence.

We hope that these devotionals aren’t simply read and then set aside, but they become a resource to draw you into deeper intimacy with Him. We encourage you to spend time with God in the secret place, where you can quiet your voice to hear His. He desires to meet you before you go. May His Presence transform you and prepare the way.

DEVOTIONAL PDF

Week One: Why We Go — Unveiling the Vision of God’s Glory

Read these Scriptures

Habakuk 2:14, Isaiah 25:7, 2 Corinthians 3:14-18, Revelation 7:9

Devotional

You have said yes to an invitation to bring freedom to the captives and proclaim the knowledge of God’s Glory to the people of Pakistan. In this nation, many still have a veil that covers their eyes, preventing them from seeing Jesus Christ as the Son of God. We have the opportunity to point them to Jesus, that they may turn to Him who is the Spirit, and the Spirit will set them free.

During our trip to Pakistan, we will see and interact with Muslims and Brick Kiln owners who do not yet have the hope of Jesus Christ or unveiled faces to behold His Glory. May God prepare us now by breaking our hearts for the veil over this nation, pleading that He opens their eyes and removes the veil. Today, may we pray and declare the promises of Scripture about the coming promised day.

There will be a day when all of the earth will be filled with the knowledge of His Glory as the waters cover the sea. The veil between the eyes of man and the eyes of the Lord will be lifted in all Nations. They will turn to God, behold His Glory, and be transformed into His image! For all of eternity, every tribe, tongue, and Nation will declare the praises of God in Holiness and splendor. Today, we wait and labor towards this day.

Prayer Prompts

  • God, what do you want me to know?

  • What are you showing me about your heart?

  • How are you giving me your heart for the people of Pakistan?

  • What does it mean to behold your glory with an unveiled face?

  • How can we impart the knowledge of His glory to the people of Pakistan?

  • How does this promised unveiling and eternity give me hope today?

  • God, what do you want me to do?

Intercession

  • Pray God’s Glory is given to Him only in Pakistan, not to Allah.

  • Pray that God removes the veil from the eyes of those who do not yet believe.

  • Pray that Jesus reveals Himself in dreams and visions to the people of Pakistan.

  • Pray that God hastens the day of His Return and that all the people of the earth may declare Jesus Christ is Lord.

Close your eyes and imagine the fulfillment of Revelation 7:9, where every tribe and tongue is before the Throne of God. May this picture empower and encourage us in the ministry to come.

Week Two: Stepping Out of the Boat: How Beholding Casts Out All Fear

Read these Scriptures

Matthew 14:22-33, Romans 8:14-17, Philippians 4:6-7, 2 Timothy 1:7

Devotional

I love the passage in Matthew 14. Just as Jesus said, “Come” to Peter to walk on the water, He has said “Come” to you to follow Him to Pakistan. In faith, you got out of the boat and stepped onto the waters to set captives free.

But even after stepping out, it’s easy for our faith to waver. Like Peter, we can see the wind and focus more on our fears than on the One who called us out of the boat. God is trustworthy, all-knowing, dependable, and our protector—but when the waves rise, we can so easily forget who our God is and focus instead on our fear.

Today, I pray you remember why you first got out of the boat and answered His call to come to Pakistan. My hope and prayer is that His character and that remembrance would diminish every fear. For He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion!

We combat fear by beholding Him. We have a God who sees us, deeply cares for us, and protects us. We are adopted into His family and do not have a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. When we turn away from His call to come and from the eyes of the One who called, we start sinking in fear.

Today, look back to Him and let your fears be silenced in the light of His face. Ask Him to renew your faith and take every fear you’ve been holding. As you hand those fears to Him, ask,

“God, what do You want to give me in exchange for this fear? What do I need to believe about You?”

Prayer Prompts

  • God, what do you want me to know?

  • God, what fears do I have going into this trip?

  • God, why did you call me to go to Pakistan?

  • What am I not fully believing about you?

  • What specific lies and fears can I exchange for truth and peace?

Intercession

  • Pray for the members on our team and for God to unify us in faith and peace

  • Pray for courage and joy to rise as we step out in obedience.

  • Pray for God’s presence to go before us, preparing divine appointments and softening hearts.

  • Pray against a spirit of fear for every person we will meet in Pakistan (1 John 4:18)

Week Three: Invitation to the Great Banquet

Read these Scriptures

Luke 14:12-24, Revelation 19:6-9, Matthew 6:10

Devotional

In Luke 14, Jesus describes the Kingdom of Heaven like a great banquet– a wedding feast prepared for all who will come. Those who are invited to this banquet are not just those whom the world esteems of highest honor, rather the poor, the crippled, the blind, the lame. This is what the Kingdom of Heaven looks like– upside down, where only the Blood unites us and grants us access. It is not filled with those who are rich and honorable in man’s eyes, but those who received the invitation of freedom!

In Pakistan, we will have a foretaste of this glorious day. We will host a Freedom Celebration, rejoicing with another tribe and tongue, declaring the eternal freedom bought by His Blood, both spiritually and physically! Christ, our Bridegroom, will one day return for His Bride, but today we are His ambassadors, sharing this invitation of freedom with those who have not yet heard.

On our trip, we will meet people who have not yet received the invitation to the eternal covenant with our Everlasting King, Jesus. May we hasten the day of His Return by extending more invitations to the Banquet, declaring their debt has been paid in full, and His blood grants them access to the Marriage of the Lamb.

Prayer Prompts

  • God, what do you want me to know?

  • God, what do you want to show me about your character?

  • How does the knowledge of Christ’s return and the wedding banquet change how you live today?

  • What excuses am I making today that keep me from coming to the Table of Christ?

  • God, who do you want me to share the invitation of the Kingdom with today?

Intercession

  • Pray that hearts would be open to receive the free invitation of the Gospel in Pakistan

  • Pray that He divinely orchestrates moments to fill His house.

  • Pray that Muslims in Pakistan would come to believe that only His blood grants access to the Kingdom of God, not their good works.

  • Spend time praying Matthew 6:10 over your family, community, and people of Pakistan. “His Kingdom Come, His Will be done, in Pakistan as it is in Heaven!”

Close your eyes and imagine the Marriage of the Lamb, where we are all gathered at the Table with every tribe and tongue. He will fill every chair and His table with people in Pakistan who have yet to receive the invitation. Pray our trip would be used to fill His House as we invite people to the Banquet Table and imagine the table with every tribe and tongue.

Week Four: Consecrate yourselves to Him

Read these Scriptures

Joshua 3, 2 Timothy 2:20-26

Devotional

It’s finally here! God has opened the door for us to go and serve in Pakistan, joining with Him in what He’s already been doing there! This is our last devotional before departure, and everything up to this point has been part of God preparing us for what’s ahead. Now, like Israel standing at the edge of the Jordan, we stand on the brink of something new. The next step requires preparing our hearts.

In Joshua 3, Israel had finally reached the border of the Promised Land after 40 years in the wilderness. The Jordan River stood between them and the fulfillment of God’s promise. The people couldn’t cross it on their own because it was flood season and the river was overflowing its banks. Yet God promised to do something miraculous! As soon as the priests stepped into the water, He would stop the flow and let the people cross on dry ground.

Before that miracle happened, Joshua told them, “Consecrate yourselves.” The people had to prepare, not by packing supplies or building rafts, but by purifying themselves before the Lord. The focus wasn’t on their strength or ability; it was on their spiritual posture.

To consecrate means to set apart, to dedicate yourself fully to God. It is an act of surrender and a declaration that “we belong to You, Lord, and we’re ready for whatever You’ll do.”

Joshua connected consecration with expectation: “for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” God was about to move, but His people needed to be spiritually awake to see it. The miracle wasn’t just crossing the river; it was learning to depend on God entirely.

While we are not crossing the Jordan, we are crossing into another culture and seeing a different part of the world that God wants us to prepare the way for! To prepare the way for the physical and spiritual freedom and liberation of many Pakistani Christians and Muslims! God is inviting us to consecrate ourselves—to intentionally prepare our hearts before He does wonders in us and through us in Pakistan.

Consecration for this trip means laying down expectations of comfort or control, asking God to remove pride, fear, or distraction, choosing to be fully available to him, to listen, serve, and love others like Jesus. God is not looking for performers; he is looking for lovers who want to participate in the story that he is writing!

Prayer Prompts

  • God, what do you want me to know?

  • God, what are you growing my excitement about for this trip?

  • God, where do I have fear? Show me how to consecrate myself to You.

  • God, what do You want me to let go of before stepping into this trip?

  • If consecration means setting myself apart for You, what could that look like in my life this week?

  •  God, how do You want our team to consecrate ourselves together before You do Your work among us?

Intercession

  • God, would You prepare the hearts of the people we will meet in Pakistan to encounter You?

  • God, would You consecrate Pakistan and make it holy unto You?

  • God, how do You want to display Your wonders in this nation?

  • God, what strongholds or lies do You want to break over this land?

  • God, what are You already doing in Pakistan that You’re inviting us to join?

  • God, may every place we set our feet be set apart for Your Kingdom purposes.

We hope this page was helpful and that you feel more equipped to go to Pakistan. Counting down the days! Please reach out to Luke Lackey with any further questions!

Thank you for preparing the way

And as you go, preach this message: “Heaven’s kingdom realm is accessible, close enough to touch… Freely you have received the power of the Kingdom, so freely release it to others.”

matthew 10:8

HABAKUK 1:5

“Look at the nations and watch— and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days
that you would not believe,
even if you were told.
