There are 143 million orphans in the world and this population is growing. What these children face is unimaginable—millions of them grow up on the streets with no regular food, no roof over their heads, and, most tragically of all, no one to tell them that they are loved.
In keeping with the vision to see 100 million people come to know Jesus, Matthew 10 is reaching out to the increasing population of orphaned and abandoned children in India—and around the world.
Serving Orphans
Matthew 10’s orphan care ministry began with a cow. Bishop Ernest Komanapalli, founder of Manna Ministries, was trying to raise money to buy a cow to supply milk for an orphanage in India. When Dr. Pete learned of this, he offered to pay for it himself. In January 2005, Dr. Pete visited Bishop Komanapalli and learned of 150 children who were orphaned by the 2004 Tsunami that devastated India. Immediately Dr. Pete took on the care of these orphans, providing them with housing, food, loving care, and a Biblical education—an education that will continue through trade school or Bible college if they choose.
Right now, plans are in place to construct a new facility that will be situated on three wide acres outside of the town they are currently in. This new facility will not only house the orphaned children, but will also include a Christian school for 1,000 students and a church that will seat 1,000. Surrounding the buildings in this facility will be cottages to house widows who will, Lord willing, help to provide care for these children.
But we need your help in order to meet the needs of these orphans and expand our ministry to love and serve even more of them. If God is putting the orphaned children of India on your heart, you can become a part of changing the world for these little ones today.
